BOOK LAUNCH POST COVID
Level One here we come.
Level One means in person events with no limit to numbers.
Which means the official launch for The Forger and the Thief can go ahead. And you’re all invited to the celebration.
4th November 2020, at the Time Out Bookstore in Mt Eden, Auckland. 6pm-7pm. Just one hour, because it’s been a long time since we’ve all been able to socialise, and our livers probably have to take it easy…
Planning for a launch in times of COVID is a bit like prepping a birth plan before you go to the hospital… You have all the best intentions in the world to launch your book baby in May 2020 in Newcastle. Then the world’s medical advisors say no, it’s not safe. So then you plan for an August birth… and New Zealand’s Director of Health also says no. Third time’s a charm. November 4th. As long as everyone keeps washing their hands, and stays at home if they’re sick. Seriously, please wash your hands!
The delay to the launch has given me ample time to prepare a number of other launch activities - blog tours, reviews, NetGalley releases, arrival of the paperbacks from the printers. I feel like I’ve been treading water, but what I’ve really been doing is packing my bag for the trip to the bookstore to launch this book into the world.
I know that November 4th will roll around pretty quickly, and hopefully everything will fall into place as planned. But as long as there’s enough wine and cheese to go round, and enough books, all should go well.
And after the launch, there’s a small nationwide tour to plan. Easy!
